We also offer related products in this category, essential for creating the white primer base or applying a topcoat to achieve a glossy and resistant finish:
400ml Phosphorescent spray can
2K Bodywork topcoat aerosol
To successfully carry out your project, carefully consider these two important factors specific to aerosols:
- Choose a brightly intense colour, such as Green or Turquoise. other colours naturally produce lower brightness.
- Ensure you have sufficient paint. Photoluminescence intensity depends directly on the number of coats applied. You'll need at least 4 or 5 coats to build adequate phosphorescence on a surface.
Keep in mind that phosphorescent spray paint cans, also called aerosol paints or spray paints, are pressurised containers composed of approximately 75% gas and only 25% actual product. Their primary advantage is allowing a contactless application, ensuring a smooth finish without brush marks, similar to results obtained with a spray gun. The drawback, however, is lower coverage: a 400ml aerosol contains only 25% phosphorescent paint.
Our customers have successfully completed various paint projects, notably on bicycles, using aerosols from our Deep Field phosphorescent range. Although application can be challenging, it demonstrates that a successful outcome relies primarily on careful application, method, and attention to detail, rather than professional-level bodywork equipment.
What do phosphorescent spray paint cans contain? These cans contain the same formulation as our standard pot versions: a fine, quick-drying paint requiring prompt application of a topcoat.
Warning! Aerosol sprays are hazardous products. Vapours are flammable and harmful, as they are solvent-based paints. Always wear a protective mask and work in well-ventilated areas.
To effectively reflect light, the paint must be applied over a white primer base. Over dark or black surfaces, phosphorescence will be virtually nonexistent.
You can achieve coloured phosphorescent effects visible in daylight by using bright, lightly-coloured base coats such as fluorescent yellow or green.
Any topcoat can be applied without negatively impacting phosphorescent paint recharging, including UV-filtering clearcoats.
Persistence refers to the duration of the phosphorescent glow. With the green colour, visibility can last between 8 and 10 hours, though intensity diminishes rapidly. The most intense glow occurs during the first 5 to 10 minutes, after which the effect stabilizes at a visible but lower photoluminescent level.
