We advise you not to save yourself the careful reading of the instructions, because they are all very important and will allow you the success of your painting.
You can enter the Kawasaki color code in the box provided on the shopping cart page, or you can simply send us this color code by email after paying for the order. If you have any doubts about your Kawasaki manufacturer's color, you can contact us before ordering, by phone or by email at colors@stardustcolors.com, and we can check together if the reference you have exists and if it is present. in our list of formulas. It sometimes happens that certain recent colors are not yet identified and reproduced, in our motorcycle color software.
We deliver our paintings in 24 hours in France and in 2 or 3 days in the various European countries. All our paints are solvent-based. They are very covering and perfectly similar to the original shades of the manufacturer.
For the pots of paint, there are 2 versions for its matt base paints to be varnished. For pots from 0.25L to 0.5L, the paint is supplied already diluted, so ready to be applied and we also offer 2 other larger formats which are 1L and 2L kits (paint + thinner separated).
Depending on the year of your motorcycle model, you may be offered different types of paint. That is to say that there are for the old models, mainly for the colors before 1990, paint versions which are called "direct gloss" paints. They are 2-component polyurethane formulas, ie they require a hardener, but on the other hand, they do not need to be varnished.
Otherwise, most contemporary paints are called “two-layer paints” or “basecoat” paints. They are matt and single-component paints. They are very easy to apply and dry almost instantly. However, they are not resistant until they have been varnished. For this reason, they require a 2nd step, varnishing, which is the origin of their name "bi-coat".
There may even be 3-coat versions with certain Kawasaki color codes : these are paint systems where a 3rd coat is used, which is often positioned in first position. This 3rd layer is called “specific undercoat” or “first coat”. You may not be aware when you place the order and have your Kawasaki color code. However, our colorist will inform you by calling you to suggest that you also order this 3rd layer.
Most Kawasaki tints from 2000 onwards are sophisticated colors that contain nacres and metal particles. These colors often play with a mixture of transparent colors and colored mother-of-pearl pigments, which are applied to a specific background. The result of modern manufacturer tints is more shine and more depth.
To talk briefly about the application, be aware that it is imperative to disassemble the various parts of the motorcycle that are intended to be painted. If you are not painting in a professional paint booth then the most important thing is to have a well ventilated area. You cannot paint in a closed area without sufficient air extraction.
Environmental dust is not really a big problem. It is easy to eliminate by wetting the surroundings (walls and floors). You must of course choose a day without wind and a moderate temperature, because you should not paint below 15° and not above 25° (in theory).
Kawasaki is a Japanese industrial group, which has been involved since the beginning of the 20th century in various fields such as aviation and engines. It was the aviation branch of Kawasaki that first started manufacturing and selling motorcycles under the original name at the time of "Meguro".
This branch later became "Kawasaki motors". It was in the 1960s that the first motorcycles with 250 cc engines appeared, originally intended for the automobile, because Kawasaki produced engines for aviation and also the automobile.
In the 1965s, the first models of Kawasaki motorcycles were exported to the United States for the first time. The brand did not meet with the expected success on the American continent. However, in the 1970s, it was the first factory to be set up in the United States in Nebraska.
Among the modern motorcycles manufactured by the Kawasaki brand, we can mention the fabulous Kawasaki Ninja H2R. It deserves that we dedicate a certain paragraph to this motorcycle which has a one-of-a-kind and exceptional paint finish.
The production of the H2R is semi-artisanal and involves a chemical process, replacing the classic paint, which has made it possible to achieve real chrome plating on the entire surface of the fairings of the motorcycle. But this is not a standard chrome plating, because the technique has been modified so as not to create dazzling of other motorists on the road in direct sunlight, but also which has allowed this layer of silver to resist UVs :
The designers of the H2R motorcycle invented the first ultra-gloss black : on its surface a thin layer of mirror silver produces an exceptional shine. In addition to this, a transparent black colored clearcoat has been applied to its surface. The result is just sensational, with a mirror effect black, which cannot be reproduced with any other conventional or even special paint.
If you have the original booklet for the motorcycle, you should probably find your manufacturer's color reference there.
Without this color code, it will be impossible to order the paint.
If, for example, you are looking for a Kawasaki green for a 2005 motorcycle model, with this data, you can find about twenty green colors in the motorcycle color preparation software for the KAWA brand.
It is therefore imperative to find the corresponding Kawasaki color code, before considering ordering the paint. Specialized forums on the Internet in the English language are the places where one can most likely find this information.
As a last resort, you can also contact the local dealer who will probably be able to help you
There are 2 really emblematic shades of the Japanese brand Kawasaki. They are two greens, the first of which is an opaque "lime green", without pearl or metal, a bright and pure color and the second is a "Golden Blazed" green, which contains pearls and a transparent green tint, a real masterpiece of color composition.
However, the Japanese manufacturer has been very prolific in the creation of colors and our formula database contains nearly a hundred references, listed since the 1960s.
