Aston Martin is one of the most prestigious car brands today. Along with Rolls-Royce and Bentley, it forms the jewel of the English automobile industry.
The brand was created in 1913 by Lionel Martin, in England. The products of this automotive firm have distinguished themselves by participating in car races and bringing back several trophies.
In 2021, the manufacturer Aston Martin made its debut in the world of Formula and won a podium with driver Sebastian Vettel.
It is therefore from the beginning that the brand has positioned itself in the field of high performance and luxury.
The Aston Martin models driven by James Bond are well known in the films that popularised racing cars from the DB2 to DB5 models.
The paints offered on these bodyworks by the English manufacturer can be formulated according to well-established recipes based on a mixture of mother-of-pearl, aluminum and automotive tint pigments with high UV resistance.
Although these vehicles often exceed 100,000 euros to purchase, the paintwork is of the same composition as other cars, of course. The system for painting these vehicles is the classic automotive paint system, that is to say : a primer often grey in colour, followed by a 1K basecoat, followed by a topcoat.
The system is made up of these three steps : the preparatory coats, followed by the colour coat (Aston Martin code), and then the protective and clear topcoat (any quality mark).
A little bodywork advice : it is always advisable to work with the wet-on-wet technique - that is to say, superimpose the layers of paint as long as they are not yet dry (within 30 minutes).
The prestigious brand has produced unique vehicles since the 1950s, which have both distinguished themselves on motor racing tracks, but also stood out spectacularly in terms of curves and bodywork design ! Who remembers the DB3S, an extremely rare sports version of the DB3, whose Aston Martin green colour code was extraordinarily ahead of its time! In 1953, colour was a true masterpiece.
The history of Aston Martin began in 1910 with the creation of its first model, which saw the light of day in 1913. The brand was in fierce competition with its rival Bugatti. Each manufacturer tried to reach the highest levels of speed, which at the time peaked at extreme speeds of 115 km/h. The Aston Martin brand won a world speed and endurance record in 1925. During the war period and twenty years after, the English firm had a difficult time and was bought and then merged.
Success came in 1959 with the release of the first DBR models. These are racing cars that made the company famous. The company was subsequently bought by American or Greek investors until the 2020s, when it became owned by Kuwaiti investment funds.
For ASTON MARTIN brand vehicles, the plate mentioning the colour code (vinplate) can be found in two different places :
- Inside the engine compartment.
- Inside the left front door. (driver's side)
The colour code is always made up of three characters (letters or numbers).
One of the best-known colours of the Aston Martin brand, which belongs to the common colour code database of Aston Martin and Lagonda, is the code 1038 whose name is "PEARL CARIBBEAN", a silvery turquoise.
There is of course the famous and very avant-garde English Green which decorated the superb Aston Martin DB3S released in 1953 with ten or eleven examples worldwide.
Aston Martin has created an impressive collection of black shades, from onyx to diamond, and we are proud to have all the formulas for these paints.
