The Italian manufacturer's Aprilia paints are known for their opaque red tint. However, there are more than 150 color codes belonging to this Italian motorcycle manufacturer. In general, all paints for Aprilia motorcycles are made with “two-coat paints”. Even if the brilliant red colors can be manufactured in a "direct 2C gloss paint" version, the paints on bodywork and fairings of motorcycles are always done with 2 stages: the "matt base" followed by its clearcoat. There is an undeniable advantage to painting according to these 2 steps rather than painting in a single step, that is to say with direct gloss paint.
In this category you can find paint in the 1K basecoat version and also different products such as varnishes, the complete kit (which includes paint, primer and clearcoat), and also other consumables and equipment that are used for painting, from preparation to varnishing.
You will find, in the main product page, a non-exhaustive list of codes for the Italian brand. There may be many other codes, including recent codes or old codes (dating back to 1968), which we can manufacture, but which are not listed on the product page.
In any case, it is your responsibility to give us your paint reference, i.e. the Aprilia manufacturer's color code. All other codes, that is to say those of the major paint brands, are not valid codes that can be used to find the original formula. Unfortunately, we are not able to match all paints, but we can match approximately 80% of colors since the brand's existence.
If this is your first time doing a paint job on a motorcycle, be aware that you will need to take the time to read the application instructions carefully. Painting a motorcycle is a difficult job that requires a lot of care and meticulousness. If you apply yourself, then you can perfectly obtain the same result as a professional painter in a car body, even if you paint with an aerosol, because you will have the same products as him if you order from us.
Our products are delivered in professional quality, both in jars and aerosols. The composition of the paints is a solvent-based formula of the “acrylic polyester” type. They are particularly easy to use, as they dry very quickly and are very thin, which avoids the risk of running.
Of course, other factors influence your application: for example, the ambient temperature, which should normally be between 15 and 25 degrees C°. In cold temperatures, the paints will not dry and will run, while in too hot temperatures, the paints will dry too quickly.
The preparation of the substrate plays an absolutely decisive role for your Aprilia paintwork. The quality and care taken in this preliminary step will generally determine the result. If the bottom is not properly sanded, dusted and degreased, all kinds of defects can appear. In such a case, the time saved on the preparation of the substrate is nothing compared to the time we will have to spend repairing and redoing all the original Aprilia paint
Finally, the final stage, which follows the stage of preparing the substrate, applying the primer and the Aprilia color code, is varnishing. This step is the crowning achievement of your work. It will create a shiny surface that will highlight your Aprilia color. It is also an ultra-resistant layer that will protect the paintwork and the metal support against corrosion.
We offer a particularly well-stocked range of varnishes, and even 2-component aerosol clearcoats to varnish like a pro.
Everyone knows that Aprilia is a brand of Italian origin. Here is a summary of the history of the famous Italian motorcycle manufacturer. The Aprilia brand originated in the small bicycle factory owned by Alberto BEGGIO. His company was founded just after the Second World War, in an Italy that was struggling to recover from the bombings, but also from the many constraints and prohibitions that would weigh on the country defeated by the allies.
Aprilia's investment in the motorcycle industry came late, since it was only in 1968 that Alberto's son, whose name was Ivano, built his first motorcycle with a 50 cc engine.
This prototype gave birth to a production of motorcycles, which will be named the "Colibri". This is the beginning of the epic of Aprilia, which will become in a few decades, one of the most prestigious brands of motorcycles in the world.
And indeed, 10 years later, Aprilia motorcycles are already competing in international speed races in the 125 and 250cc classes. The competition with other Italian or English brands is fierce and the competition takes place both on the race tracks and in the manufacturing plants. Innovations and performance were boosted by mechanical competition and all motorcycle brands of the time would benefit from all this passionate competition.
From 1977, the manufacturer Aprilia released a whole series of models with the TL230 or the TX, in 125cc or 350cc versions, and the AF1. Also, the team will win first place in the San Marino Grand Prix in 1978, which crowns 20 years of effort and passion. In 1990, the PEGASO 600 model was released. The displacements are getting bigger and the speed and reliability performances are always higher. Aprilia has clearly earned a reputation for sporty motorcycles. However, the company grew and it was in the 1990s that the company entered the world of scooters. This flourishing field in Italy but also throughout Europe is experiencing strong growth.
To know the original color number of a motorcycle manufacturer, it is necessary to struggle to try to recover this information where it is. We know where they are not, that is to say in any place on the body or on the documents of the motorcycle.
The simplest and most logical first step is to get in touch with the team at the Aprilia brand dealership in your area. If your color concerns the last 10 years, technicians and salespeople will no doubt be able to advise you.
When it comes to older colors, the task becomes difficult. Except, if one has the original documents of the motorcycle, then it will be necessary to carry out a thorough investigation, mainly on the Internet. Among the forums and the many sites, where there is a mountain of information to sort through, you will have every chance of finding the famous references concerning your motorcycle and its paintwork.
As for us, we have a database that includes more than a hundred codes and formulas, but unfortunately we have no way to link the codes with motorcycle models or years. We can therefore validate or verify your reference but we will not be able to help you find your code
Everyone knows the Italian brand for its red. Just like Ferrari, Aprilia motorcycles are famous for the bright red. It is not metallic red or pearl red, as is the case with all the modern colors that adorn today's motorcycles. This is an opaque and simple red. But make no mistake, there is not just one Aprilia red, there are a number of them! With variances both in color and in paint systems.
By the term "system", in the world of bodywork, we understand the different methods in 2 layers, in 3 layers and even in 4 layers sometimes.
Here are some examples of code belonging to Aprilia. These are color code references that come directly from the manufacturer. These are the only valid and usable references. Note that a color code is always accompanied by the name of its color.
