To order your Buell manufacturer paint, choose your packaging in the product page below (Buell color code paint), then tell us the reference by email right after you have made the payment.
If you finalize your order before 3 p.m., our colorist can prepare the paint according to the Buell color code immediately and ship it so that you can receive it the next day at your home, office or pick-up point.
Our company, which specializes in the manufacture of automotive and motorcycle paints, mainly offers solvent-based paints. These are paints usually reserved for professionals, which are not available in mainstream stores.
Solvent-based motorcycle paints are easier to use than acrylic motorcycle paint. These dry more slowly and are difficult to sand. On the other hand, the aging of water-based paints is premature and on the contrary Buell solvent-based paints are known for their durability of up to 20 years easily: it is these versions that are used in the factory.
We offer two formats, i.e. the aerosol or the can of paint. For the latter, which is intended for application with a paint gun (0.8 to 1.4 mm nozzle), we offer the ready-to-use version (already diluted, for 250 and 500 ml packaging) or the pure version (for 1L kit packaging).
The manufacturer Buell has produced around a hundred color references and our computer colorimetry system identifies 80% of them. Indeed, we cannot make all the motorcycle colors, because some could not be matched (for lack of model or sample) or in other cases, some could not yet be studied, because too recent.
If you have a reference, and want to verify that we can do this painting, you can call or write to us with your Buell color code.
Once we confirm the possibility of mixing your paint, we are at your side to help you succeed with your painting project (complete or touch-up). Before doing this, it is essential to invest the time necessary to read all the information concerning the preparation, mixing and application of the different stages of your Buell paint.
Depending on the color code of your Buell motorcycle, there may be some variables : Sometimes a specific background color is needed. Our colorist will let you know. For example, certain light gray, medium gray, dark gray, or sometimes even black primers are recommended to achieve the correct color.
In other cases, Buell paint can be applied directly to your old bottom, without applying a primer. Of course, a filling primer is necessary if you have scratches or if you have made repairs with a filler, and in general it is always recommended to have a plain background, i.e. of a homogeneous color. Do not apply your Buell color code paint if your background is multicolored (presence of logos or color bands).
Some Buell OEM colors require a third coat: this comes first and is called “first coat” (below, the paint and below, the clearcoat). These are slightly more complex shades that give a superior visual effect, in terms of depth or shine effect.
Buell motorcycles were born in the 80s. The adventure of the American brand is therefore around forty years old and was born under the impetus of its creator and founder of the same name : Erik Buell.
This motorcycle enthusiast but also of competition has been racing motorcycles since a young age and quickly worked as an apprentice mechanic in a motorcycle workshop, where he quickly stood out.
He became a professional racer in the 1970s. Combining his passion for mechanics and racing, he added an engineering degree to this, because he put all the means at the disposal of his dream and his obsession: creating a motorcycle brand.
Erik Buell made his debut at the giant Harley-Davidson as a chassis engineer and actively participated in the registration of several innovative technological patents. He left Harley in 1982 with one thing in mind : to create his own brand and stable.
Having remained on good terms with his former employer, Harley Davidson will help him by supplying him with his first engines. Buell demonstrates innovation and creativity with techniques never before employed on other motorcycles. Harley-Davidson becomes a 49% shareholder in the company created by Erik Buell and thus provides its support as an investor and shareholder in the Wisconsin-based factory.
At its peak, the company will employ 200 people and produce 10,000 motorcycles each year. The BUELL adventure ended in 2009 with the cessation of production jointly desired by the 2 partners. Erik Buell created his own company in his own name (Buell Motors Racing) in 2010 based mainly on the racing and marketing of 3 models homologated for the road. Recently, he started building electric motorcycles.
Knowing the reference of your motorcycle colors is always quite difficult and it can even become a real obstacle course, especially when you have an old motorcycle.
This color code may be difficult to obtain, even when requested by a professional workshop or dealer. Contacting the parent company via its website can allow you to obtain this information, provided you wait several months for a response.
Where Buell motorcycle owners gather to exchange ideas and information are the Internet discussion forums. If you register on these specialized Buell brand forums, that's where you'll have the best chance of finding your Buell paint code.
Without this precious color code, it is of course difficult or impossible to consider ordering a paint, because without the exact reference, it is impossible to sort among the hundreds of references present in a manufacturer's color software to motorcycles : the same white color can have many color codes and can be found on several models of motorcycles for many years.
We will be able to offer a complete and updated color card for the BUELL brand very soon, with most of the BUELL color codes released since 1980.
If you have color codes from paint manufacturers (for example PPG), be aware that these are not BUELL color codes, but that they are internal references to these paint manufacturers, and these do not correspond to the real references of the American manufacturer.
Here are some examples of real BUELL code, by which one can realize that they are a bit heterogeneous:
Code Code Name Brand and Year
190388 BLUE STREAK BUELL 1998-
61876 MOLTENORANGE BUELL 1998-
75050 SNAP RED BUELL 1998
95152 ONYX ALLOY BUELL 1998-
BUELL 2 SILVER X MILLENIUM BUELL
M0310.1AAYBP GRAPHITE GREY BUELL 2013
There are 3 types of colors from the manufacturer BUELL :
• solid or opaque tints, generally prior to the year 2000
• pearly and metallic tints
• tints in 3 layers, with a layer 1 and 2 + a clearcoat.
