Below these sizes, compressed air spray for paint application will have enough flow to paint a motorcycle or touch-ups, but not enough to paint entire vehicles. Air purifier filters are essential in bodywork to ensure good quality air supply to your guns.
A good filter always consists of these elements :
- Compressor and gun air filters are used to purify the air. There are many, which differ in their ability to filter different volumes of air and there are different levels of precision of air filtration.
- An air purifier is generally composed of two compartments which are each responsible for separating fine particles, micro particles, water and grease particles. They generally disassemble and do not change because they can be purged easily.
- the purifier with a size of 1 µm to filter water / grease / dust
- the 0.01 µm filter to filter micro particles
- then usually the regulator (with manometer)
Our air purifiers, depending on the model, can be equipped with inlet or outlet taps, to change the cartridges, without stopping the compressor for example.
To maintain a good air flow, and avoid a loss of pressure in your air circuit, you must properly maintain your filter :
- you must purge the humidity accumulated in the cartridges every day.
- depending on the use, it is important to change the cartridges which clog up over time.
Important: the choice of the air filter to apply the paint. Especially before buying a filter, find out about its airflow capacity, because many airflows are not suitable for car bodywork, but simply for motorcycle bodywork, because their flow rate is too weak.
According to the rules of bodywork, to achieve the high level of quality required by a professional painter, it is necessary, to paint large surfaces such as a vehicle, at least :
35 m3 /H (35,000 L/H), or 583 L/min (35,000 L/H/60 minutes)
In the field of automotive painting, the choice of an air filter must be made according to the application: for example for those who paint complete cars, it is necessary to have a filter with a large capacity in terms of flow rate (the flow rate is measured in cubic meters per hour CM3/H). On the contrary, for those who are used to painting smaller parts or doing touch-ups, painting motorcycles or even bicycles for example, medium-sized air filters are more than sufficient.
These come from the compressor which naturally accumulates a lot of humidity and also residues of grease, dirt or rust: all these particles end up in the air system and create defects in paints and varnishes.
They are used for very small jobs, such as freehand airbrush drawing, or small touch-ups. We connect them under the airbrush, or under the gun, because they are small and light. Discover our models for guns or airbrushes.
Of course, they cannot ensure complete and significant air filtration.
It can be placed at the exit of the air compressor or at the entrance of the cabin or at the entrance of the gun. In any case, several air filters can commonly be used on a supply pneumatic system. An air filter should not reduce the airflow too much as this can change the characteristics of the paint, the color and the final result. Air compressors are generally supplied with an air filter included: this type of filter is clearly insufficient to deliver quality air.
Large units provide micron and sub-micron filtration. They capture all impurities, grease from the compressor, and humidity, without weakening the flow. They include several compartments, each dedicated to a type of filtration.
