They are called the "Rolls Royce of airbrush paints" for their quality and finesse. The best artists, virtuoso airbrush artists, use them with great faithfulness.
The Schmincke airbrush series is called AERO COLOR
It is composed of several sets of colors :
- The Standard (36) semi-transparent colors
- Total Cover (opaque) colors (12)
- Candy colors (transparent)
- auxiliaries : mediums, varnishes, thinners and retarders
- effect colors (pearlescent and metallic AERO SHINE, AERO METALLIC and AERO VISION on request) (24)
They are rich, glossy colors, perfectly true to the reference colors of the fine arts. This range of sublime pigment inks awakens in us the desire to paint with a capital P : just read the list of names of traditional colors, which brings together all the historical colors of pigments also used in oil painting, pastel, or watercolor for hundreds of years.
The Schmincke range of Standard colors includes 36 semi-transparent colors, including 3 primary colors, Primary Magenta 28304, Primary Cian Blue 28405, Primary Yellow 28202.
Aspect
The Standard series refers to shiny colors, for their liveliness, the strength of their pure color. After drying, the colors are matte-satin and water resistant.
Concentrated and ready to use
They are intended to be used pure, as they are ready to use. However, like all the basic shades in the fine arts color palette, artists use them by mixing them together to obtain variations in color tones.
Adhesion and resistance
Excellent adhesion on many substrates, can be used for both paper and bodywork. The colors have maximum light and UV resistance.
The particularity of these liquid inks is their unique concentration, very rich in pigments. But also an exceptional fineness and pigment quality. The recipe of Aero Color gives maximum fluidity, which makes it possible to draw with airbrushes and is suitable for all levels of practice, especially for airbrush experts (hyper realism).
How to use AERO COLOR Professional
Shake the pipette bottle vigorously : this makes the ink homogeneous, disperses the micro-pigments, and guarantees a good accuracy of the intensity and viscosity of the color, which is important to find formulas with the drip pipette.
Airbrush application :
Optimal application conditions are between 15 and 30° C, and a moderate air pressure is recommended, around 2 bars.
The recommended airbrush nozzles are 0.15 mm for artistic colors and 0.3 mm for metallic or pearlescent colors.
Schmincke airbrush colors are fully suitable as "Acrylic Ink" for many artistic techniques with brush, pen, "liner"
Dilution:
AERO COLOR Professional airbrush inks are ready-to-use, i.e. they can be sprayed without dilution. To refine them or make them "less strong", because their pigmentary power is important, you can add a little distilled water (from 5 to 20%), or use the transparent medium 50 602 to make thin coats of glaze or very fine details. For details, dilute a little more, get closer to the support and lower the pressure.
Mixing :
For airbrush mixes, dilute beforehand, or mix directly into the cup.
Contouring :
Schmincke offers a solution of pens to be filled, the LINER AERO COLOR, which enables fine, opaque lines to be drawn with high precision.
Cleaning :
After use, all painting utensils can easily be cleaned with water-based airbrush paint thinners or soapy water. Do not delay to rinse the paint into the airbrush to prevent the product from drying out.
Storage : AERO COLOR Professional should be stored in a frost-free place.
Packaging
Schmincke paints are available from STARDUST in 28 millilitre glass bottles : These glass bottles with pipette caps provide ideal storage for these high-quality inks, and the pipette allows the required quantity to be taken accurately. Ask for your Schmincke paints in 0.25 L or 1 L (* Only to order)
There is a practical guide on the site which shows the ways to obtain all the RAL colors (for model paint) using simple mixes between the Standard colors.
