Airbrushes:
It is possible to use an airbrush for all fluid and fine paints.
In the case of certain paints or varnishes, or even primers, they can be made usable by diluting sufficiently.
The airbrush is a not so easy tool to use, and therefore mastering it is essentially a matter of knowing how to care for it, maintain it and solve spray problems:
For this reason, in order not to add difficulties, we give some valuable advice:
Choose a quality airbrush: BADGER or IWATA type, rather than an economic airbrush, in order to have a robust and durable tool.
Choose an airbrush with a nozzle larger than 0.3 mm, and if possible 0.5 mm for decoy painting. Very fine nozzles are essentially reserved for artistic drawing and precision work.
Prefer a suction airbrush, rather than a gravity airbrush, to have a greater capacity to spray varnishes.
After all these explanations, you will understand that our choice naturally goes to the BADGER 150, which is a perfect "all-terrain" tool for painting decoys, thanks to its simplicity, its precision, and its capacity to spray all products.
You will find more choices and accessories of course by visiting our large airbrushes category
Recommended guns for fishing paint: "who can do more, can do less
Contrary to what many people think, a standard size paint gun is ideal for painting fishing lures of any size.
Mini spray guns are excellent tools of course, however their nozzle is thinner (0.8 mm to 1.0 mm) and this can cause some slight difficulties when painting thick and viscous products such as primers.
We offer guns for painting fishing tackle in all price ranges. All our guns are accurate and efficient.
Regular painters who are committed to their passion usually have several guns. Each one is reserved for a particular product, in order to avoid contamination and to allow a very clean work:
for example one can use a large standard gun for spraying products that do not require great precision, such as primers, glitters and keep one or two guns, exclusively dedicated to the realization of fine paints, and especially clear and glossy varnishes.
Compressors
Below we propose two excellent compressors
- one without a tank, i.e. very small, with a motor that charges directly. It works very well for airbrushing lures individually.
It has the great advantage of being very quiet, to allow a use in apartment. it is a durable equipment.
- a 24-liter compressor, small in size, but particularly powerful and fast. this small professional workshop compressor allows the use of all types of paint guns.
Cleaning:
we use a cleaning thinner, never acetone.
for acrylic paints, we simply use water.
