If you want to renovate your motorcycle rim clearcoat, by yourself or by a painter, or if you want to varnish the paint you are going to make, with the best rim clearcoat there is, then you will have to spray with liquid products. Here are the techniques and products you will need :
The products we offer are the harder finishes that can be sprayed. They are classic bodywork products with mixtures of polyester, acrylic, epoxy in bi-component (with hardener).
We are going to present you our different offers of transparent, matt or glossy coatings. It is compulsory to varnish the paint if it is a « 1K basecoat ». Only 2K paints do not need to be varnished.
Clearcoats for motorcycle rims : techniques and different choices
The possibilities in terms of effects and colors are limitless : any special color from our catalog can be achieved, no matter how strong and thin it is, because it is always necessary to apply a high-gloss, resistant finish as a final coat.
Here are the rules to guarantee the adhesion and durability of the clearcoat :
Avoid at all costs thicker coats that encourage peeling
The bottom paint must be sanded with a 400 or 500 grit, not finer !
Use a very hard or very soft clearcoat that resists shocks
For this, here are our recommended references of clearcoat for motorcycle rims :
UHS830: high quality, easy application in all seasons, excellent flexibility and gloss durability. Available in spray.
CERAMIC: ultra fast drying and curing, 75% harder than a traditional clearcoat.
WET SPEED: good gloss, wet look, good thickness, fast drying.
To obtain a motorcycle rim clearcoat that does not crack or shatter, we recommend using the trick that all body shops know : adding 2% of elasticizing concentrate to any clearcoat.
Sanding is a very important and meticulous work, on which the quality of the clearcoat's adhesion depends. On rims, it is of course only done by hand. It can be done dry or better, with water. Sometimes it can be very difficult to sand in the corners and edges, especially if the rim is complicated. To do this, we advise you to try our abrasive sponges which allow to deglaze very quickly whatever the shape of the rim spokes.
With Stardust, matte clearcoats are no longer what they used to be : fragile, sensitive to scratches, capricious and variable in their appearance, once dry.
Discover our new matte clearcoats that now offer very high levels of scratch resistance. We offer super matte clearcoats, very aesthetic, self-repairing or anti-scratch.
