These new silicon-based pigment particles, coated with metallic oxides, have enabled the creation of the DIAMOND paint range.
Reclassifying the classic synthetic mica pearls as ordinary and boring effects, the Diamond paint range represents today, together with the magnesium pearl paints, the most beautiful, iridescent and fascinating paints.
The main characteristics of the « Diamond » effects are an exaggerated brilliance and depth of color. In contrast to the coarse aluminum pigments, the transparency of the silicon pearl effects allows the use of ultra-transparent shades such as Candy. They can be described as a flake paint, however with a microscopic pigment size.
Available in water-soluble version to order, Stardust's « Diamond » range offers a solvent-based formula for bodywork with a range of 40 colors.
The color chart can be downloaded in high definition on the product pages below.
Silicon pearl (SiO²) paints are solvent-based 1K basecoats.
They do not require any hardener, they are single component and dry quickly due to the evaporation of solvents, creating a thin layer with the pearls perfectly positioned « flat ».
Due to the transparency and the very liquid character of the product, the best way to spray Diamond paint is with a spray gun or airbrush, by projecting thin layers.
Diamond paint (coat 2) is of the « three-coat » type, i.e. it is imperative to use either a black or a white background (coat 1), and to varnish them (coat 3).
It is important to varnish Diamond paints quickly (half an hour) or to do a quick removal with an abrasive sponge (no abrasive sheets).
The Diamant range far outperforms all other current pearl paints, due to its brilliance and the quality of its components (SiO²). The Diamant pigment consists of a microscopic glass layer, which is then metallized by electroplating. The result is a much purer particle than the usual pearl, more transparent, non-yellowing and more reflective.
