Acrylic clearcoat for aluminum in water-based version

ALU WHS is a new generation solvent-free gloss clearcoat.
Its aliphatic polyurethane acrylic formula provides a very high level of resistance, but also remarkable direct adhesion properties on aluminum. It allows adhesion to other types of materials*.

Only certain special clearcoats have the ability to adhere to aluminum. Aluminum is a non-ferrous metal that is difficult for paints and clearcoats to adhere to.

ALU WHS is one of the few acrylic clearcoats with excellent adhesion to aluminum.

The adhesion on aluminum is excellent after 24 hours and optimal after 72 hours.

ALU WHS Acrylic Aluminum Clearcoat is a professional grade clearcoat that can be used for all interior and exterior applications. It has excellent resistance to weather, sun, heat and UV.

Its level of resistance and hardness can be increased with the addition of 5% special Hydro hardener. With the addition of hardener, the clearcoat hardens more, and obtains a resistance of more 30 %. After mixing, it must be used within 45 to 60 minutes.

It is an ecological clearcoat since its VOC level does not exceed 3.5%. It is suitable for indoor use without odor.

Substrate preparation

On aluminum, the surface must be sound and ready to be painted. The aluminum must be sanded, degreased, dry and dust free.

Preparation of the mix

The ALU WHS clearcoat is ready to use. It is a monocomponent clearcoat.

It can be diluted with 5 or 10% distilled water.

Caution : Adding water can compromise the adhesion properties and considerably slow down the drying time.

When adding hardener*, the mixture should be used within 45 to 60 minutes.

The addition of hardener is optional.

Application :

Application conditions should preferably be between 15 and 25 degrees
Application with pneumatic gun (1.0 - 1.5mm), Airless, roller, brush

Suggested thickness, in one or two coats : 40 µm dry (100 µm wet)

Drying at 20°C :

1-2 hours to touch

Through-drying : 6 hours

Fire resistance*. ALU WHS does not propagate flames.

Other materials*. Application on certain plastics (PC, ABS, PS) can be done directly without sanding or preparation, thanks to its direct adhesion properties
