The prerequisites for painting your Aston Martin paint
We advise you to use a filling primer, i.e. a primer**. This product is particularly suitable for covering and filling superficial scratches. In addition, it allows you to create a homogeneous background, which will avoid color differences and marbling effects, with the transparent Aston Martin colors. The use of a primer is mandatory on the putty.
Before any application of paint, the background, which may be the old varnish, or the primer, must be sanded with a 500 abrasive sheet (never finer).
it is important that the surface is perfectly dry and dust-free. Normally a degreaser is also used to remove any invisible contaminants, such as silicones or grease.
The mixture
Small format paints come already diluted, so there is nothing to do except stir.
The paints sold in kit, include the pure product with the thinner supplied separately (reduction between 50 and 70%)
Paint application
With a 0.8 / 1.5 mm gun, with a pressure between 2.5 and 3 bars
Apply 2 to 3 thin coats
With an aerosol, the application is the same.
In both cases it is always preferable to apply thin layers rather than thick layers
Depending on the temperature, wait a few minutes (2 to 5) between each layer.
It is important to work with an average temperature between 15 and 25 degrees C.
Varnishing
Use a professional 2-component bodywork varnish.
We recommend UHS 830 varnish which is a very efficient varnish, easy to apply, very shiny and very durable.
It is available both as a kit of pots, or as a two-component aerosol here in the car varnish range
Varnishing is always done with only 2 glossy coats, spaced 10 minutes apart.
*Solvent paints
They have the advantage of drying faster, being finer, easier to work with, and above all, more durable.
**Questions about primer:
Depending on the Aston Martin color, it may be necessary to have a specific color for the background. Don't worry, our colorist takes care of everything and will provide you with your product in the exact shade.
If you did not order a primer and your color requires one, then he will contact you by phone to add this to your order
