The Stardust Spray Bike chameleon effect paint cans produce optical effects of color change depending on the point of view.
Each paint can can give the observer from two to six colors depending on the angle of observation.
One of the major characteristics of Chameleon frame paint is that it contains no dyes or tints like conventional paints : the colors are bright and luminous and are solely the result of the reflection of light on the paint's particles.
Chameleon colors give impressive effects and are especially suited to the curved and tubular surfaces of a bicycle frame, where they can show their full visual potential.

Color selection :
We invite you to refer to the PDF color charts available for download at the bottom of the page.
There are mainly two different quality ranges, the standard range and the Extrem range.
The application :
The bike must be pre-painted or primed with a black color.
This can be a primer specifically tailored to the bike frame material or a black paint. The latter is the simplest option and is possible when the bike is already primed, painted or varnished. When the bike frame is bare then the primer option should be chosen.
Black background
P500 sanded
A Chameleon paint is applied differently from other paints : it must be sprayed in quick passes, to create many thin coats, until the black background is completely covered.
Apply about 5 thin coats.
Varnishing
The varnishing must be done quickly and without waiting more than 20 to 30 minutes. Otherwise, the clearcoat can no longer adhere to the paint, which becomes dry, because its surface seals quickly.
When you want to make drawings or graphics, then you must let the paint dry completely (1 hour), then make a sanding with a gray abrasive sponge.
You then have all the time necessary before varnishing.
Varnishing is done in two coats spaced 5 to 10 minutes apart.
Choice of clearcoat :
You are free to paint with either a matte or a glossy clearcoat. However, it is the gloss one that gives the maximum potential for Chameleon paint on a bike.
The Stardust Bike range offers spray clearcoats suitable for bikes, including very hard clearcoats and more flexible ones that can withstand impacts.
Paint requirement
For a bicycle frame, two to three Chameleon sprays are needed.
