In detail
ARCO IRIS holographic bike paint is composed 100% of aluminum particles (either 20 µm or 35 µm) wavy capable of reflecting light in the manner of a prism : different from conventional paints, the hologram paint contains no color pigments and none.
The visual result that this paint produces is a rainbow, that is to say a succession of light colors, resulting from the reflection of the light, and declining with all the colors of the prismatic circle, from purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red up to pink.
In the lack of direct light, with a diffuse light, the paint appears gray.
A few things to know :
The holographic paint look on a bike is variable depending on :
the background color (black, white, gray, red, green, yellow...). The maximum effect and the recommended normal color is obtained on a black background
the number of coats : it is possible to apply a single coat or a maximum of coats until the base is completely covered
the size of the particle : we propose two types, an ultrafine type 20 µm and a fine type 35 µm, it results in a more or less scintillating effect.
Instructions for applying holographic spray paint to a bicycle frame
Before painting the bike, it must first be painted or primed.
When the bike frame is stripped or raw, then a primer must be applied.
When the bike is already painted, it does not need to be stripped : simply allow it to adhere with a light sanding with P500, then apply the desired background paint color (we recommend black)
the application is done on the sanded and sound background (dry, dust free, degreased) with a few coats or thin "veils" repeated quickly. It is very important to spray very thin coats, and with an aerosol spray can this is done in quick passes.
The paint evaporates very quickly and it is essential to varnish before the paint is completely dry (30 minutes maximum). Beyond this time there is a risk of the varnish peeling off in the future.
Varnishing
Use a professional two-component Spray Bike
Apply two coats, no more. Allow 5-10 minutes drying time between coats.
For those who wish to stick brand or logo adhesives :
it is necessary to do it before the varnishing, that is to say in the very short time interval of 10 to 30 minutes.
If you want to take more time, it is possible, just let it dry, sand with a gray abrasive sponge, and then you have all the time needed
Efficiency
1 aerosol spray = 0.33 m² for 4 coats or 1 m² in 1 coat.
