Stardust Bike phosphorescent spray paint : how it works
These paints have photoluminescent properties : that is to say, they are able to absorb ambient light (any type), store it / accumulate it as energy, and re-emit it, slowly and gradually, as fluorescent light.
Concretely, after an exposure of only a few seconds, a phosphorescent paint on a bicycle frame will glow for several minutes.
It is estimated that a total recharging of these "batteries", which represent the phosphorescent pigments, requires about fifteen minutes.
The release of light energy, which is called phosphorescence, is a degressive reaction that can last up to several hours or even all night.
Phosphorescence is effective in total darkness.
It varies in intensity depending on :
colors : green is 50% stronger than turquoise
the number of coats : the more coats there are, the stronger and longer the phosphorescence.
Professional quality
Stardust bike paints are products from the professional world of signage and bodywork. They have been specially reconverted for the amateurs of bike customization
Special features of the phosphorescent bike paint can :
We cannot compare a phosphorescent paint with a classic paint, for several reasons :
Appearance : a phosphorescent paint is semi-transparent : In daylight it is colorless, or may appear slightly greenish or yellowish, depending on the number of coats, and the more coats are applied the more visible this greenish test will be.
The texture : this paint contains photoluminescent micro crystals. In order to achieve a powerful effect, a maximum number of coats must be applied.
The application :
The bike must be previously and imperatively painted or primed in white color.
This can be a primer specifically adapted to the materials of the bike frame, or a white paint.
Applying a white base paint is possible on an already primed, painted or varnished bicycle frame. When the bike frame is stripped or raw, then a primer must be applied.
The Stardust bike range offers a series of basic spray paints and also a series of special primers for aluminum, carbon or non-regular surfaces.

Apply a maximum of four to eight coats. To avoid drips, a time of five minutes between each coat should be respected. The paint dries very quickly.
Varnishing
It is very important to apply the bike spray clearcoat directly afterwards without waiting more than 20 to 30 minutes, because after that time the paint will not be able to adhere to the phosphorescent paint.
The ideal is to apply the clearcoat after five minutes
Efficiency
1 aerosol spray = 1 to 2 coats on a bicycle frame
