BMW car Paint : choice of colour

The background :
This must be clean, sound, degreased, dust-free, dried, and sanded with 800 grit sandpaper. It is often an old paint or topcoat, for which no primer is necessary.

How to find your BMW paint colour code on your vehicle ? :
For BMW vehicles, the colour code plate (vinplate) can be located in three different places.
- Inside the engine compartment.
- On the left-hand wheel arch (driver's side)
- Inside the doors

The colour code always consists of three characters (letters or numbers)

Mixing the BMW 1K solvent-based basecoat paint : 
Mix approximately 100 volumes of pure paint with 70% thinner supplied with the kit.
> The 250 and 500 ml packs are already diluted !
Application :
1K solvent-based basecoats are particularly easy to apply : they can be applied with all types of spray guns, using thin coats (approx. 1.3 mm)
The thinner they are, the faster they dry, so the shorter the time between coats : At 20°C, the coats are applied in a row, while at cold temperatures you wait 5 minutes.

Professional application method recommended :

One very thin coat (to see any defects)
one (or two) coat(s) with an interval of 5 min
For pearlescent/metallic : finish with half a coat with less pressure and a little more distance from the substrate;
Topcoat:

Varnish after 15 min, with any of our clearcoats. We recommend our 830 UHS clearcoat which is an excellent one !
You should not wait to varnish, because after 30 min, the adhesion is no longer possible in theory.

Yield : 6-7 m²/L in 2 coats
For aerosol sprays, the coverage is 1 aerosol spray = 0.6m² max
