Apart from all the products in the world of bodywork, there are the types of paint that we call "industrial" and which encompasses the vast array of industrial paint.
In industrial paints, we offer the color on demand, which is achievable for each type of industrial paint : Find all the "Industry color charts" to download at the bottom of the page (RAL, AFNOR, PANTONE, COLOR TRUCKS, NCS color chart ...)
Below, read our “Little Guide to INDUSTRIAL PAINTING”.
Of course, on each product page you will find the professional technical data sheets to download, but above all the application guides for individuals or professionals, the calculations of yields in square meters, and the specificities. The paint is a coating, a "skin" which has two purposes : to protect the supports and to give a beautiful appearance. The paint is applied either by spraying or by brush/roller. As in bodywork, there are :
- Primers (grip, anti-corrosion, phosphating, filling)
- intermediate or so-called finishing paints
- clearcoats
However, many products for machinery or carpentry are economical and simplified : they do double or even triple duty, serving as primer, color, and clearcoat.
Whether painting a machine, a tractor, a gate, cladding or wood, it is important to choose the appropriate paint, according to these criteria :
- the ease of the system : many prefer a single paint rather than multi-coat systems
- the method of application (gun, airless, brush, roller) : What tool do you have ?
- the part to be painted (type of support and condition)
- the desired degree of protection and durability (climate, various attacks)
- the budget and the desired finish (color, shine) In order to successfully carry out industrial painting, and to obtain good results, follow the preliminary steps specific to industrial painting techniques :
- Prepare the supports. This consists of taking all the necessary actions to obtain a healthy support (to avoid reactions and defeats) and able to receive the paint (to guarantee adhesion) : Removing rust from an industrial machine, a tractor, a beam or a frame, stripping old paint flakes, sanding, brushing, scraping, shot-blasting. If necessary, degrease with our degreasers and thinners. >> category Abrasives
- Apply an adequate adhesion primer (anchoring layer in direct contact with the support). This is not necessary if the chosen industrial paint acts as a primer >> See our category "A primer and a filler"
Some raw/bare substrates do not require a primer (wood, stone, etc.), but many need a primer and a filler paint and/or anti-corrosion, or phosphate.
This is the first question you have to ask yourself to know which industrial paint for materials you need. Is it metal ? Is it bare metal ? Is it a ferrous or non-ferrous metal ? In which case I would need a special paint or primer.
Or if it's leather or plastic, I'll need a flexible paint... On glass, glass paint...
Machines for lifting, construction sites, etc. need simple, robust products, but we don't usually offer them multicolored pearlescent paints with glossy clearcoat ! This industrial paint for machinery is above all economical and easier to apply. We have a special selection of BESA products for painting gear.
