American motorcycle paint color codeMotorcycle manufacturers in the United States

The brands of American manufacturers are few in number and the motorcycle paint color codes mainly concern the few fairly well-known American motorcycles such as Buell, Harley Davidson of course, but also Indian. Other brands of motorcycles made in the United States are too little known to have been the subject of color code referencing.

Today in Europe, the Harley-Davidson brand holds a significant share of the motorcycle market. The unconditional users of these HD motorcycles claim as much a lifestyle and an image, as this brand of vehicle.

For paint dealers in France or Europe, requests for Harley-Davidson color codes are therefore quite frequent. It can be said that the HD colors are radically different from the colors present on all other two-wheelers.

They are often complex formulas and colors inspired by the CUSTOM paint, with the use in the field of transparencies and glitters but also matte or glossy varnish. It is common that, following a request for formulation, the customer leaves disappointed because the American firm communicates very little about the colors it produces and even the references.

Following the example of European and Japanese manufacturers, the Americans have used the same color classification system for their machines and the various parts that make up the fairings and tank, from the fenders to the cases.
"Harley-Davidson Motorcycles" has nevertheless shown singularity by using only numbers in the references of its paints during the years 2000 to 2010.
On the contrary, we find color codes composed only of letters since the last years. The American motorcycles always have a color designation that is added to the color codes: here is an example with a HD motorcycle.
EKG is the color reference) - WICKED RED DENIM is the trade name of the paint.

Each American motorcycle brand has its own paint factory and makes all its own colors. They do not use outside companies, such as PPG, to make their colors.
They jealously guard the formulas for these paints and it is often an obstacle course for the customer to determine what the color code is, and then how to make it.
