In general, a color code is composed of three four characters which can be numbers, letters or even both.

Each color is sold as an option when buying a new vehicle and a simple metallic paint is often charged 2 to 4000 euros in addition to a standard color.

Sometimes, as is the case with the Opel brand, we can have a much simpler code of the 1R PANACOTTA style. In this case, the color code is simply composed of a letter and a number. It is unusual for German brand vehicles or even cars in general worldwide to have complex color codes with more than four characters. Apart from classifying and organizing the families of hundreds of colors, this coding is also used by the repairer outside the manufacturing facilities: by repairer, we mean the body painter who is going to do a touch-up.

Mercedes car paint color codes

Among the German vehicles, the most famous is Mercedes-Benz which is a pioneer in the automobile industry in the world. Since its creation, Mercedes car paint color codes now number in the hundreds. The Smart car paint color codes are generally opaque or pearlescent paints. It can be applied without too much difficulty, provided that the instructions and technical data sheets are followed. In case of dust in the lower layers, it does not matter, since each layer can be sanded fine before being covered by the next layer.
