Stardust pro airbrush paint for model makingPaints for model making to be applied with an airbrush

The field of model making is a world rich in nuances and techniques. There are different sub-families for model making in general, and the Stardust company has invested heavily in these different disciplines recently, and after their Stardust pro acrylic airbrush paints. It has embarked on the creation of a complete range of water-based paint specializing in model making: this is the Hikari range.
There are therefore several quite distinct disciplines, such as the world of figurine and miniatures, the world of radio-controlled model making, the world of magnetism, the world of PVC toys and dolls... and in most of these practices, airbrushing and therefore airbrush paints are used.< br /> We find, in the exercise of the decoration of miniatures and figurines, two types of application mode: application with a brush with thicker and more common paints and application with an airbrush, therefore necessarily with more fluid paints.

Clearly, there are advantages to using these spray-applied paints. It is above all the possibility of making color gradients and fades which is quite exceptional with the airbrushing technique. It is much less easy with a brush to make gradients. Spraying the paint allows for an even application, giving an effect of reality.
However, many artists prefer the brush, especially in the world of figurines and miniatures, where an extremely fine brush is used to make touches of paint and details. Often, airbrushing is used for base coats and coloring the whole piece.

Airbrush paints for model making

Of course, the figurine and the miniature, although they represent a few million users in the world, it is not everyone of the model making.
The amateurs of models, whose size of the replicas of vehicles, planes, boats, tanks, can measure between 5 cm and 3 m long, favors the use of a spray gun or airbrush to apply the paint.
It is clear that this method of application is far superior in giving quality finishes, without traces of brushes or rollers, like on a real car body.

One of the specialties, yet another completely different one which also brings together thousands or hundreds of thousands of users who are passionate about their field, is radio-modelling, in which airbrush paints are used, to paint, decorate, depersonalize the fairings of these vehicles intended for racing or for use on all kinds of terrain.

In the case of radio-remote-controlled model making, of course we never use paint with brushes and we only favor airbrush paints, which we will apply not outside as is done in all areas , but inside the transparent Lexan fairing. Here too, the application of special Lexan airbrush paints will make it possible to paint without touching the support, by atomizing and spraying the liquid paint, which will create a perfectly homogeneous and smooth surface.
The news Hikari RC paints are paints for airbrush partially intended to hang, that is to say to adhere in a guaranteed way, this plastic often very problematic which often causes detachment, either because of the shocks during the races, or when the we take off the masking adhesives during the creation of the decorations.

To accompany the colors, the Stardust Acrylic Pro range includes auxiliary airbrush paints such as normal and slow thinners, hardener, cleaner, liquid mask. In addition, of course, there are primers and varnishes, with a choice of gloss from matt to gloss.
Among these auxiliary products, there are a certain number of dilution products: in addition to the choice of speed evaporation of the dilution solvent, which makes it possible to work more quickly in winter, or more slowly on the contrary during summer, one can find diluents of the spray promoter or retarder type. This last product allows in particular to minimize a problem well known by artists specialized in airbrushing, that is to say the formation on the tip of the needle of an agglomerate of dried paint.

Water-based acrylic varnishes for airbrush paint

Stardust Pro varnishes are ultra-resistant water-based acrylic varnishes for airbrush paint that are particularly pleasant to use.
A varnish is a transparent layer whose role is above all protective. Protector against aggressive elements, such as abrasion, water, sun. It also has a decorative aspect as it is a gloss, satin, or matte topcoat, depending on each preference.
The Stardust range is probably one of the most technical and one of the richest in the world of airbrush paints and among brands worldwide: recently, special varnishes, such as velvet effect varnishes , or ultra-fine varnishes, or ultra matt varnishes, have been added to enrich the offer and offer new solutions to users.

Primers for airbrush paint

Regardless of the type of paint job, primers for airbrush paint can be useful for preparing a raw surface, as primers, whose role is primarily adhesion, but also smoothing.
The primers are available in several colors and are capable of hanging on glass, iron, aluminum and plastics.
The filling surfacer primer is a product that does not exist in an oil paint version. water. However, it is available in the Stardust airbrush paint range, in a solvent-based version. This is a true one-component bodywork primer available in a small 125ml size.
