Special Epoxy polyester formula for rims

This resin family is used in paint for rims, to ensure high adhesion, and the best resistance against scratches and pea stones.

The paint system used by a coachbuilder to paint rims is always carried out in three stages.

1 - Anti-corrosion and adhesion primer for metal

2 - Metallic paint

3 - Topcoat

Stardust Colors proposes metallic epoxy-polyester paints

- 250 ml Can = 2-4 simple wheel rims*

- 500 ml Can = 4 complex car wheel rims or 2 motorcycle rims **

- 1 L Can

* This includes only the outsides of car rims.

** This includes both sides of the motorcycle rims.

Description of the different metallic effect types:

Stardust offers a very fine choice of pure metal shades based on pure and varied aluminum pigments:

Some paints are made out of very fine pigments, which produces a smoother and softer effect,

while others contain larger particles, giving a more glittery, reflective effect. 1 μm (microns) = 0.001 mm

- BC1 BRIGHT ALUMINIUM

This paint is using only medium fine (max 60 μm) and glossy aluminum pigment

Apply on grey primer, or black preferably.

- BC2 COARSE ALUMINIUM

Large shiny and iridescent aluminum pigment (80 μm metal particle size) for a more glittering effect

Apply on grey primer, or black preferably.

- BC3 DIAMANT SILVER

Shiny and sparkling with glitter particles producing a silvery reflection (30-100 μm).

- BC9 FINE SILVER

Ultra fine metallic paint made of pearls between 10 and 40 μm. This creates an iridescent dark silver effect, which brings style and elegance.

Application on black primer.

- BC50 SILVERCHROME & - BC62 DARK SILVERCHROME

Special metallic paints, ultra liquid, producing mirror polished metal effect (12 μm).

- BC60 MICRO ALUMINIUM

It is the thinnest, the brightest, and the most beautiful aluminum. It is an exceptional painting made with high-end pigments.

Mixing and application

The products are delivered ready-for-use: no need to add thinner, or hardener.

2 to 4% hardener can be added to the paint to harden it and use it without any topcoat being applied.

The paints are “1K” products, to which a bodywork topcoat is applied (available in pot or aerosol).

Apply a black primer or black 1K basecoat, then apply the paint shortly after:

Stir the product.

Use a spray gun, 0.8 to 1.5 mm nozzle

Apply a few thin passes until the background is completely covered.

Drying time between coats: 1 min

Apply immediately the topcoat, without waiting more than 30 min
