Surface Preparation and Priming
♦ For raw wood, A 2K filling primer in aerosol form must be applied. Wood is a porous surface, so it’s crucial to prime it before applying liquid paint. This blocks and impregnates the surface. The primer is a thick, leveling product that dries quickly and can be sanded to create a perfect base.
♦ No primer is necessary if your guitar already has a layer of paint, clearcoat, or a high-quality primer. In this case, you can move directly to the painting stages after lightly sanding the surface (P500) to ensure adhesion with the previous layer.
Introduction : Diamond paints are made with large transparent glass pearls. These are particles measuring 100μm, larger than automotive metallic pigments. Their color appears when light reflects on them. Diamond paints also contain a transparent dye that enhances the pearl's color.
These paints are semi-transparent and must be applied over their base color evenly.
Step 1 : Applying the Base Coat
For most Diamond colors, a black base coat is required.
The appropriate base color is automatically provided based on your chosen Diamond paint.
The base paint is easy to apply with a few thin, quick coats. It dries very quickly, allowing you to proceed to the next step after just 10 minutes.
♦ Tip : Hold the aerosol perpendicular to the surface and use quick motions, alternating left-to-right and right-to-left, maintaining a distance of 10 to 15 cm from the surface.
Step 2 : Applying the Diamond Paint to the Guitar
This paint is ready to use and single-component. Shake well before use.
It’s easy to apply as long as you use light coats. When working with spray cans, apply quick, light passes. Avoid thick coats; instead, layer multiple thin coats to achieve the desired effect.
Diamond paint should always be applied over the black base coat once it’s dry for 10 minutes or sanded with P500 if dried longer.
The color gradually appears until the black is completely covered. Apply between 2 and 5 thin coats, depending on the desired effect.
♦Tip : For a darker effect, you can preserve some visibility of the black base by applying less Diamond paint, allowing the base color to show slightly beneath the glitter.
The paint dries quickly and will appear matte when dry.
It’s recommended to apply the clearcoat within 30 minutes to ensure good cohesion and adhesion between the layers.

Step 3 : Applying the clearcoat
The clearcoat aerosol is special because it’s a two-component product. You need to activate it by pressing the red button at the bottom of the can and shaking it thoroughly before use.
This aerosol is single-use and must be applied within 60 minutes. It creates a highly glossy and durable surface, comparable to car bodywork.
Apply two glossy coats, with a 10-minute interval between them.
Drying time: 24 hours.
