► TUTORIAL HOW TO PAINT A MOTORCYCLE
To order on this page, it's very simple:
Your paint will be immediately prepared and sent. We deliver in 24-48 hours in France and in 48-72 hours in Europe.
Packaging
Choose the quantity you need, allowing for an additional product margin.
You need about 250 ml of ready-to-use paint to cover 1 m². Warning: for aerosols, you need to count about 100 ml of paint in the total aerosol, which is mainly made up of propellant gas.
Formulations
All modern Moto GUZZI paints are two-coat varnish paints. This painting process is used by all bodywork painters and also in factories. This process consists of applying a first step with the paint, then a 2nd step with the finish, the varnish.
Solvent-based paints are flammable and harmful products, it is imperative to read the safety instructions, understand them and follow them during use, storage and disposal.
Using the paint
To respect the original GUZZI shade, it is important to shake the aerosol or stir the paint can completely. Only paints supplied in kit form must be mixed with their thinner, with a ratio of 100 parts paint, for 50 to 70% thinner.
For use with a spray gun:
How to prepare your surface correctly?
We recommend using a primer, especially if your bodywork is old and scratched. If you have used a filler to repair certain areas, then the filler primer will be mandatory. The same applies if your background has several colors, or if your Guzzi paint is a very light color.
If your background is plain and dark, you could paint directly on top.
The general rule for preparing the surface must be respected:
The background must be sanded with 500 abrasive paper, it must be perfectly dry and clean, degreased and dust-free.
Special MOTO GUZZI paints
In the world of motorcycle painting, we use the term three-layer system. It is simply a layer, or an additional step, generally before painting. It is a shade that gives an increased effect in terms of depth and shimmer.
If this is the case for your motorcycle, then our color technician tech@stardustcolors.com will contact you to indicate the specific undercoat
MOTO GUZZI color code problem
Before your paint order project, you must know your color code. This is a unique reference that consists of numbers and letters and that identifies your motorcycle shade. We cannot find this code for you, because a color code is not linked to a motorcycle, a model, a year...
You can check with our technician that this color is available in our GUZZI database: colors@stardustcolors.com
It is common for very recent shades, or very old shades, not to have formulas that allow you to counter-type a color.
The finish
It is used to make it shine and it is used to protect the paint, the color, but also the sheet metal, against all the attacks of bad weather, the sun, the heat and all the oxidizing or abrasion factors: it is the varnish.
You should always use a two-component varnish that will give your paint a lifespan of 10 or 20 years, provided that all the steps have been followed in the application of the paint. We recommend the UHS 830 varnish that can be found here in the category of automotive varnishes
