How much paint should I use to paint a HONDA motorcycle ?

> Covering power :

- The pure litre in 2 passes, covers 5 to 6 m² while the diluted litre covers 3 to 4 m² in 2 passes
- 1 aerosol spray 400 ml = 0.3 to 0.5m² max
Count 1 m² for a motorcycle with the minimum of fairing
and up to 2.5 m² for motorcycles with many fairings

Composition : 1K one-component solvent-based basecoat

Special Honda shades : Some 3-coat shades require a specific additional undercoat* : if your colour code requires this additional undercoat, our technician will contact you to propose the first coat shade.

MIXING of the Motorcycle 1K basecoat :
Our paint kits are supplied in pure version : the paint is delivered pure and its thinner is delivered with it.
Before painting, 70% of thinner is added to obtain the right viscosity for application.
The 250 and 500 ml cans are already diluted.

APPLICATION of the HONDA paint :
Prepare the support so that it is clean, dry and sanded with sandpaper 800
Should a « primer » be applied ? :

No. Only if the sheet metal is bare, or if the paint you are covering is damaged and scratched. Stardustcolors offers a wide range of primers and adhesion promoters
Apply the paint with a spray gun (1.2 to 1.5 mm nozzle)
prefer a mild temperature of 15 to 25°C
Apply a first thin coat of adhesion primer, then apply 2 coats at 5 minutes interval.
A last thin pass can be sprayed at 20/30 cm to veil and homogenize the possible streaks.
After this, allow 10 minutes drying time and varnish.
If you need time and cannot varnish before 30 minutes, then you will have to clean with our grey abrasive sponges before varnishing.

The final step of Varnishing the Honda paint is the most important but also the most difficult step
The clearcoat is usually applied in 2 to 3 coats maximum, with an interval of 5-10 min between each coat.
Maximum shine can be achieved by recoating the next day, after a light sanding with sandpaper 1200.
