KIA car paint code - Car colour code in 1K solvent-based basecoat

The paint we offer is a professional solvent-based paint. It is a one-component paint, delivered without hardener. As with all automotive 1K basecoats, it must be varnished with a 2-component bodywork topcoat

This paint is intended for touch-ups, decoration, or complete painting on KIA vehicles

How to order your colour :
First determine the amount of surface you have to paint.
With this paint yield (in litres per square metre) you can determine your paint requirement.

with 1 litre of diluted paint, it is possible to paint 4 to 5 m²
With a 400 ml aerosol spray, it is possible to paint a maximum of 0.4 m² (40 cm x 100 cm)
(an aerosol spray contains mainly gas)

The paint is delivered pure or diluted depending on the packaging
250 ml : ready-to-use paint
500 ml : ready-to-use paint
400 ml aerosol spray : ready-to-use paint
KIT 1L : 500 ml of pure paint and 500 ml of thinner
KIT 2L : 1L pure paint and 1L thinner

You should contact your dealer.
Of course it is easy to find your KIA car's paint reference on the bodywork. The code takes the form of a series of 3 to 4 numbers or letters, and is usually written on a plate in the door openings.

The type of body paint
All cars today are painted with 1K paints (this means a one-component, as opposed to 2K paints, which have 2 components)

1C paints are very thin and quick-drying paints. They are very easy to apply, and it is very easy for an inexperienced painter to get it right.
These paints should be varnished without waiting more than 30 minutes !

Application technique
Prepare the surface* by sanding with 500 grit sandpaper
Remove dust and grease
Shake or stir the paint well before use
For pure paint : dilute by approximately 50 to 70 %.
With a spray gun fitted with a 1.0 to 1.5 mm nozzle, apply the paint in 2 to 4 thin coats. Allow an interval of about 2 to 5 minutes between coats.
Always work at a moderate temperature, i.e. between 15 and 25° C.

This is recommended but not mandatory in most cases
If your old paint is scratched and the surface is not smooth, then you should apply a filler

The finishing topcoat
The topcoat is the final touch that will give the shine and resistance to your bodywork and your paint. It is the most delicate step.
A bodywork topcoat is always of professional quality to last over time.
It is a 2-component product, which is applied in 2 coats spaced 10 minutes apart. In general, it takes 24 hours to dry completely, except for fast drying topcoats, where it can be used after only 2 hours.
