(base and pigment)
Glow in the Dark Paint for Outdoor Roads and Bike Paths is an acrylic formula solvent.
Its main function is to produce phosphorescence which allows better visibility of road markings in the dark.
This formula offers a high layer thickness, an excellent level of resistance, and very fast drying time. 'open air
Advantages
Visibility in total darkness for 6-8 hours (Afterglow)
Ecological solution for marking pathways during the period when public lights are turned off in the second part of the night
Photoluminescence lifetime Unlimited and without loss of performance over the years
Ease of application
No maintenance or power supply
Disadvantage
Not effective in a bright atmosphere (presence of street lamps or street lighting)
Implementation:
Application by manual or automatic spray, or brush.
The phosphorescent paint for roads PH1041, Must be applied on a white background. It is recommended to use ST1041 white road paint as an undercoat.
The 2 layers of the Photoluminescent system for road and cycle path, must be applied on top of each other , with a time interval that should not exceed 20 to 30 minutes, in order to ensure perfect cohesion between the 2 layers.
Application in one or more layers, in order to obtain a thickness of 150µm dry (about 250µm wet)
During application it is important to keep the mixture dispersed thanks to an automatic agitation system
Aspect
Glow-in-the-dark, greenish-white road paint
in an ambience of complete darkness, the appearance is a luminous green color
Form of delivery, mixing, and conservation
The product is two-component, it is delivered in the form of a resin accompanied by a powder
mixing is done by weight at the time of use, with 3 parts resin for one part of powder
The mixture remains perfectly usable for 1 year.
Luminance and afterglow performance
the luminance and the level or intensity of the phosphorescence, which is expressed in microcandella/m²
the afterglow and duration of the phosphorescent phenomenon, expressed in minutes, with measurements at 10 and 60 minutes
The ISO 17398 standard (See PDF at the bottom of the page) indicates certain levels of phosphorescence and classification.
To obtain class C: apply 100µm dry
to obtain class D: apply 150µm dry
In practice, the phosphorescence is stable and slightly decreases during the night.
With a significant thickness, the level of phosphorescence makes it possible to be sufficient to be visible until the dawn in areas where there is an absence of public lighting or light pollution.
Add reflective effect
It is possible to apply retro-reflective and transparent microbeads above the phosphorescent layer 2, in order to to combine Photoluminescent and reflective effects.
However, it is important to note that the reflective effect needs a white background to return the light.
It is therefore preferable to juxtapose a reflective white band and a phosphorescent band.
