New product
Chrome effect paint for Lexan – Hikari RC
Applicable with an airbrush 0.18 – 0.5 mm
Applied from the inside of the Lexan
Flammable, non-harmful paint
The range of paints for Lexan RC model bodies includes a speciality : mirror effect paint.
This paint produces a mirror effect that closely resembles real chrome. This extraordinary liquid product works particularly well when applied directly to the inside of a shiny, new Lexan surface, without sanding or primer.
The paint is semi-transparent and must be backed with black paint.
Application method
RC chrome paint is a liquid product that should be applied in very thin coats. The application must be made on the inside of the shiny plastic, without sanding. The product will not work on a matt surface.
This paint dries very quickly, and coats can be applied with very short intervals between them, with as many coats as necessary to achieve a semi-opaque grey appearance.
Alternative use :
On a matt surface, such as on transparent primer for Lexan, chrome paint can give a fine polished aluminium effect.
Drying :
It is recommended to let it dry for a few hours or use hot air to speed up the drying process before covering with black paint (preferably), grey, or white. Be careful when applying the black paint; it must be done with care in a few thin coats to avoid soaking the chrome paint.
Cleaning :
Use alcohol or a solvent-based thinner.
Masking and layering :
Chrome paint for Lexan has good general adhesion, but precautions must be taken when applying adhesives afterward to avoid peeling (do not press adhesives too firmly to make removal easier).
Safety and storage:
Flammable product, do not inhale fumes. Store and use away from any sources of ignition or heat.
