Copper paint on Cupra rims
Here is an article with several special recipes for making copper varnishes on the rims of Cupra vehicles.
We also offer a transparent “Candy” color to be applied directly in a transparent varnish formula, on the raw and bare aluminum agent, or repaired and polished. (This is a recipe resulting from a mixture, contact us)
We can supply special metal varnish or in spray.
Mixture: Stir well before use. Pure paint should be diluted 50% and up to 70% depending on the painter's preference. The paint will keep for months or years.
Instructions for application:
The bottom: This must be clean, sound, degreased, dusted, dried, and sanded with P500.
If your background has been damaged, if it is scratched, if you have applied a putty for a repair, then you must apply a primer:
Use our Stardust FAST Primer (available in different tones of gray. The order picker will automatically put the correct color that corresponds to your CUPRA color code).
Application :
Solvent-based matte bases are particularly easy to apply: they can be applied with all types of spray guns, using thin layers until the base is covered (spray gun (approximately 1.3/1.5 mm).
The traditional technique for applying a CUPRA manufacturer’s tint is as follows:
apply 2 coats, spaced 5 minutes apart at 20°C, then apply a light veil 30 cm from the surface to homogenize.
Varnish: Varnish after 15min, with any of our varnishes (See Automotive Varnishes category) We recommend our 830 UHS varnish which is an excellent varnish! You should not wait to varnish, because beyond 30 minutes, adhesion no longer occurs in theory.
Yield: 6-7m²/L in 2 layers For aerosols, coverage is 1 aerosol = 0.6m² max
Other technical characteristics:
VOC g/L: <860 (diluted)
