The Kymco color code
Our color software includes hundreds of references, among which it is not possible to sort by motorcycle model. It is therefore imperative that you provide us with the code, because we cannot find it according to your motorcycle model, or its year.
You can find out this color code by contacting your dealer or by visiting the forums specialized in the Kymco brand.
Presentation of our Kymco paint
We provide a paint faithfully matched to the original factory shade.
Our paint is a solvent-based paint in the formula "1C matt base coat to varnish *":
This painting process always includes the application of the single-component paint * followed by the varnishing step. It is therefore a two-coat paint (2 steps)
Dilution
Our paint is supplied already diluted for small pots, and it is supplied pure for kits (thinner apart)
In addition to these 2 steps, a preparatory step can be added: the primer
Generally speaking, it is rather advisable to apply a primer for the following reasons:
For Kymco colors, it is often recommended to have a particular primer, which can be white, black, different shades of gray. We take care of informing you and automatically giving you the color that corresponds to your Kymco paint.
Sometimes a KYMCO brand shade is special and requires a 3rd coat.
This type of paint is called a three-coat paint, which consists of 2 different coats and a varnish. Our team will notify you in such a case.
Qualities and advantages
Solvent-based paints are much more resistant and durable over the years, compared to the Hydro (water-based) paints used by body shops.
They also have other very clear advantages, with easy application and no dripping, easy sanding, quick drying.
It is necessary to follow the safety instructions for their use.

Coverage and consumption
The covering power of a paint varies depending on the color.
approximately 250ml of pre-diluted paint is required to cover 1 m²
For 400ml aerosol versions, one aerosol is required for 0.4 m²: The content of a spray paint, and essentially composed of gas.
Technical guide
1 / preparation of the surface
It is necessary to sand lightly with 500 grit sandpaper. This is not a question of stripping, but rather of creating the ideal conditions for paint adhesion.
In the event of scratches or impacts, a filler and a filling primer must be used. The filler is reserved for scratches and holes deeper than ½ mm.
Before painting, your surface must be perfectly clean. The success of your painting will depend on this. Your surface must be sanded, degreased, then dusted just before reaching it.
2/ applying the paint
Stir the paint well, especially the bottom of the pot, to disperse the pearl pigments.
Use a paint gun with a nozzle from 0.8 mm to 1.4 mm
Paint a few thin coats. Wait a few minutes between each coat to let it evaporate. Apply the light coats, from left to right, then from right to left, until the bottom is completely covered.
It is possible to apply the varnish without sanding, provided that it is applied before 30 minutes, this is called "wet-on-wet" application
Advice:
Always work in a dry and temperate environment (between 15 and 25 ° C)
In case of cold temperatures, allow more time between each coat, to avoid dripping.
In case of hot temperatures, use our slow thinner.
The varnish
On a motorcycle, we use an automobile varnish. It is not necessary to add a UV additive or a softening additive. Among our wide range of professional varnishes, we recommend, to put it simply, our UHS 830 varnish in a pot or aerosol, which is a varnish that is both efficient, reliable, and easy to apply. It also allows you to work in all seasons with its 3 temperature levels offered.
