Presentation of the PPG Deltron® cleaner - D846

It is a mild cleaning and degreasing agent specially designed for plastics.

Very effective in removing oils and plasticisers, which are invisible contaminants on plastics.

The degreasing agent for plastics D846 – DX103 is a specifically alcoholic mixture designed to degrease plastic surfaces without damaging them. After spraying on the plastic and then evaporating, D846 acts as an antistatic agent.

Recommended use: cleaning and removing static electricity from new and old plastic surfaces.

PPG D846 is suitable for all plastics (PS, ABS, PP, PE, PC, PVC).

How to use PPG Deltron® D846 Anti Static Cleaner?

• Apply a generous amount of Deltron D846 Cleaner to a clean cloth.
• Wipe the entire part
• Wipe surfaces in one direction only to avoid spreading contaminants.
• After using the degreaser, wipe off excess cleaner with a clean, dry cloth.

Caution ! do not allow the product to dry on the freshly cleaned surface.

Note: Do not apply antistatic agent D846 to solvent-sensitive plastics.

Application of PPG Deltron® D846 Anti-static Degreaser on Plastics

In the field of automotive or motorcycle bodywork, the plastics encountered are often PP or PE, and sometimes ABS. This could be, for example, a bumper or a fairing. They are flexible and resistant plastics, which are difficult to adhere to, especially PP (polypropylene) and PE (polyethylene).

To obtain perfect adhesion and durability, before degreasing, carry out rigorous preparation of the substrate according to this 5-step process:

1 ► Degrease bare plastics with D8434 PPG Deltron® plastic substrate cleaner

2 ► Pass the plastics through the flame, using a gas torch with a triangular tip. 1 or 2 short passages are enough.

3 ► Scrub the plastics thoroughly with a green abrasive sponge dipped in a thinner-type solvent.

4 ► To clean and remove surface tension, apply PPG Deltron® Anti-Static Cleaner D846

5 ► Apply the adhesion promoter to PE or PP plastics in 1 coat and immediately follow with a thin layer of paint or primer to ensure perfect cohesion of the paintwork.

For plastics already painted:

For surfaces painted with hydro paints, and in particular before clearcoating, use the mild degreaser D837 PPG Deltron® Spirit Wipe which is a general cleaner

For surfaces painted with solvent-based paints, use BS Refinish Degreaser

Use and application of PPG D846 Anti-Static Degreaser:

Application on fragile plastics

Certain products and paints should not be used on surfaces that are very sensitive to solvents, such as polystyrene (PS). Do not use solvent-based paints or D846/D8434 cleaner on PS plastics.
